The community themselves wanted to have a "recreation space" and to kick off their new makers space. Connected to MESH is also acafé that wanted to use the garden for supplying parts of their cooking. A diverse group of architects, designers, landscape architects, gardeners, business people, a prothesis maker and others turned up to become part of the project.

The first workshop aimed at investigating visions and possibilities of the community and the space, and how we could transform these visions to something that could be created "here and now".

The second phase was all about building prototypes for the first growing season, based on ideas traced in the first workshop and developed and partly pre-fabricated by Growlab.

After two weeks of workshops, the result was a garden community for the place, to take care of the garden and to develop the space even further. Together the group also designed two prototypes being tested the first season: a mobile, green wall and a crate for slope roofs.

MESH Garden

MESH is an entrepreneur community in the center of Oslo with 150 fixed and part-time users. In spring 2013 we facilitated two co-design workshops over a two weeks period of time. Inviting both external and internal people, the aim was to create a garden on top of their small roof terrace, and exploring the possibilities of gardening in small urban spaces.
